We are pleased to share that Dear Future has made a meaningful contribution to support teachers at three Title 1 schools in the North Dallas area. Title 1 is a designation given to schools with a high percentage of low-income students who are considered at risk for academic achievement. To qualify, at least 40% of the students must be eligible for free or reduced lunch programs, highlighting the significant challenges these schools face.
Teachers at Title 1 schools often bear a heavier financial burden when it comes to providing for their classrooms. According to the National Education Association (NEA), teachers earning between $35,000 and $50,000 spend an average of $715 on classroom supplies, while those in high-poverty schools spend even more—around $761. The NEA estimates that teachers spent over $800 out of pocket during the 2023–2024 school year, reflecting the critical need for additional support.
In recognition of this, Dear Future has contributed $1,500 to be divided among three Title 1 schools in the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD). Our request is that these funds be used in the best possible way, as determined by the individual staff at each school, to directly support teachers and, by extension, the students they serve.
This contribution was made possible by generous donors to our Patriots for Children program, which is funded and managed by U.S. Armed Forces veterans. We are proud to make this donation to a local school district, knowing that it will have a direct and positive impact on the education and lives of many children in our community.
Thank you to our donors and supporters for making this possible. Together, we are making a difference in our own backyard.
